Tom,
I believe Hal had replaced the power supply once. We have been cooking the
amp since yesterday and we have the voltage up to 50 volts out of 120, next
is 75 volts. It seems stable.Hal does not have 220 near the shack. I am
using a 220 Variac on 120. As for the 10M mod, I have found the WB8RXI mod
article on Google. I also download photos from QRZ.com. I understand the
only pain (and the word "pain" is probably politically correct) is removing
the stop on the bandswitch.
Any help will be very welcome. I live about 5 miles east of Hal in Medina.
I have built a few 3-1000Z and 4-1000Z Amps. And modified others including
putting in QSK circuits.

Hal,
I bought a L7 on eBay back a number of years ago. I not only replaced filter
caps but did a number of other mods as well. The amp has been working
perfectly since under contest conditions. I have a PDF of the mods I made,
complete with pictures and schematics, if you are interested.

Thanks for all of the replies and interest.
The SB-230 has found a new home with Ethan K8GU.
John AC8E, who has probably forgotten more about amps than I ever knew, has
kindly offered to help me nurse the L7 back to health. If we are
successful, I will most likely put it up for sale.
(Or, will I be tempted to go over to the Dark Side? Hmmmm )
73, Hal
