[NCC] Hytower wanted

Well, he has a rather sizable bone-pile of Hytower parts now but some of
them (as you know) are in pretty rough shape. He thinks he has enough
to make 4 good ones, but said he wouldn't mind having another one just
to be sure. So he asked me to put something out on the NCC reflector
for him. Goose did the same on the MRRC reflector.

When I got there, I found that just about all of his egg insulators are
cracked and falling apart (they were installed upside down). The plan
was to replace them, but once we looked things over we found the EHS is
all rusted badly too. So Don, bless he heart, stepped up and wants to
replace all the guy wires. It's a sizable investment, but no sense
doing it half way. I credit him for keeping his tower in top shape.
It's been up nearly 30 years. He's going to round up parts, make the
new guy wires, then I'll go back at a later date and just replace all of
them.

So once that determination was made, we just spent the next 3 hours
sitting on the porch and BS'ing. It's always a privilege to sit around
and chat with Don. I'm so fortunate to be around guys like him - true
legends in HR. If this part-time job has done nothing else for my
mental health, it's allowed me to spend time with some great people
these past 3 years. Some of the guys I've worked for are jerks, but
most of them are just fun to hang with.

I hope you feel better today. I felt for you yesterday as I could see
how much pain you had. But the whole crew kicked ass on Saturday, much
to the credit of everyone. I guess we need to face up to the fact that
none of us are spring chickens any more. Maybe we need to start
scheduling this stuff in a more conservative fashion. As with this
project - just assume from the start that we're going to spend two days
at it instead of one very long day. We really need to start being
careful that someone doesn't "go down" out there because we're pushing
too hard.

In any event, I'm glad we got it done. I can't tell you how much better
I felt on the tower once all the guys were replaced. I was really
starting to get scared being on that tower. I don't every wanna go SPLAT.

Take care buddy.
