Because of space considerations, I've decided to part with my 3CX1200A7
amp. This amp, featured in an August, 1985 "Ham Radio" article, was
designed and built by Jerry Pittenger, K8RA (SK) at the request of W6SAI,
to show off Eimac's then-new 3CX1200A7. I acquired the amp from Jerry many
years ago.

The amp has been the main 80m amp at K8AZ for a long time, and has
performed flawlessly. Many of you have seen it at the "D" radio position
at the 'AZ annual holiday open house. Since we're generally multi-single
or multi-two, the contest duty cycle has been limited to a few hours per
contest, although the amp would clearly go 48 hours effortlessly. This amp
covers 80-10m (including WARC bands), and has tuned input, vacuum variable
tune and load caps, dual meters, dynamic bias, a vacuum relay output, and
will handle high duty cycle contesting -- including RTTY contesting - with
almost no effort. It has a stand-alone power supply in a low-rise floor
cabinet on wheels with a pole pig transformer and a BAG (Big-Ass Variac.)
Those of you who have visited K3LR will recognize the design of this amp
.... this design (featured in a number of the Bill Orr "Radio Handbooks")
is the basic design after which most of Tim's amps (and my other 8877 amps)
were patterned. Even the Alpha 77 follows this design, although Alpha also
crams a relatively small HV transformer and power supply into the same size
cabinet.

The price is $1500. Pick up in Chesterland only, although I'll consider
driving a reasonable distance to meet a buyer. If interested (or just
curious), please email me directly and I can send you the original HR
article with the circuit details, plus photos and other information.

73,

Tom, K8AZ (tleek8az[at]gmail.com)
