Hal,
You were weak, but fully copyable here in SE Texas. My Familywas amazed when I told them how our QSO played out. A guy inan apartment in Tokyo connects his remote equipment to his computerand sends commands over the Internet to his radio/antenna in Medina,OH, to get on the air. I'm on the SE Texas Gulf Coast with a portableradio operated off a battery to a wire on a pole in the yard. We heareach other and make contact over the air on 20M CW. Now, THAT'San amazing QSO!!!
I made 25 Q's just to give out points. All were manual with my keyersince I don't have a computer logging setup. The only local guys in myLog were W8WTS, NO3M & NA8V, plus W1NN, I heard K3LR manytimes, but stronger guys would always catch his booming signal first.
Station: IC-703 QRP w/battery, Antenna: 29.5 ft. end-fed vert. through9:1 balun on MFJ pole tie-wrapped to back fence (no radials, yet). Made15 Q's on 20 and 10 Q's on 40 - 1.5 hours. (Best DX - KH6 20M)
73, Bob K8BL/5 (SE Tex.)
