Hello Everyone,
As many of you probably know, NAQP CW is drawing near! Once again, I
will be putting together teams (a team consists of 2-5 single op
stations), so please let me know your plans.
For those of you who don't know, the contest takes place on the August
3-4 weekend, commencing at 1800Z on Saturday, August 3, and running for
the next 12 hours. Single ops may operate for 10 out of the 12 hours.
Full rules (and results from past years) can be found at
www.ncjweb.com. This is one of the highest rate contests anywhere, so
if you like rate, this is your event. And it's not one of those events
dominated by the West Coast ops. Last year, the winner was AA3B, who
made 1,302 contacts. In ten hours!
MRRC + NCC fielded five joint teams a year ago and one of our teams
placed 8th out of 100 teams around the country and Canada. That team
consisted of NA8V, K1LT, W8CAR, K3UA and K8GT. Once again, Greg NA8V
led with a final score of 189,735 (973 contacts and 195 mults). By my
calculation, Greg's score placed him 16th among all participants. Way
to go, Greg.
And I should mention that W2FU once again placed first in the M2
category, racking up 2,068 contacts and 256 mults. They were over 200
contacts ahead of second-place K5RM! It's a shame that we can't include
Jeff and his ops on one of our teams.
QRZ NAQP!
