Happy New Year MRRC and NCC Members!

I hope everyone had a great holiday season.

Now it's time to get back into the contesting groove and the next
important operating event on many of our lists is the NAQP CW.

I shouldn't need to tell you active contesters that the January edition
of this fun event is coming up on Saturday January 11. The contest
period is 1300 EST Saturday through 0100 EST Sunday (1800 UTC Saturday
Jan 11 through 0600 UTC Sunday Jan 12) and you may operate a maximum of
10 hours during this 12 hour period. Breaks must be a minimum of 30
minutes long.  This is a family-friendly event in that you can have
dinner with the family without missing any on time.

The low bands will be hot this year, so take your breaks early and save
lots of time for 80 and 160 if you can.

_Note that single operators in this contest may not use any assistance
and output power is limited to 100 watts!_  For the full rules, see
www.ncjweb.com/NAQP-Rules.pdf

Please let me know your plans to operate (full time or part time) and I
will put together joint MRRC/NCC teams again.  Teams are composed of two
to five operators.  Please note that only single operators are eligible
for a team, meaning that you must operate without assistance and LP if
you want your score to count for a team.

The team competition is very popular.  In the August, 2019 event, there
were 95 registered teams.  Our top-scoring team, consisting of NA8V,
K3UA, N8AA, K8AJS and N8FYL, placed 12th with a combined score of
579,001 points.  The winning team from the nearby Society of Midwest
Contesters (ops W9RE, K9CT, N9XC, K9NR and WT9U) posted a score of just
over 1 million points.  We can and have done better.  Let's see if we
can get back in the top ten this year!
