Likewise, I got turned away at the Ohio BMV when I attempted to renew in 
person.

Even though I showed them my licensing information on the FCC ULS web site, 
they said their rules called only for seeing (not keeping) a copy of the 
paper license - which anyone could fake with Photoshop and a printer.
