Goose/Don, et al,

Thanks for the speedy replies & info.

I didn't know about the Club capability. That could be
a nice benefit of Membership. Our local Club in Lake
County is an ARRL Special Service Club, so that would
certainly qualify.

(Don.... Ur real organized! Mine are randomly in
      15 shoe boxes.)

Don is right on submitting cards as a club and the $7 covers the whole shipment. However, there is a caveat. The club has to be an ARRL Affiliated Club to take advantage of this.

You are right about the pricing of the Outgoing Bureau going "through the roof". While I'm an Incoming Bureau manager (Letter G), I'm frequently asked questions about the Outgoing Bureau.

The price is so high because of the MINIMUM $7 charge applied to each bureau shipment. Then you are assessed additional fees per ounce. One way to minimize the cost if for a CLUB to combine their shipments to the outgoing bureau. As I understand it, the $7 handling fee will cover the entire shipment from a club.

Goose - W8AV and the Wooster Radio Club do these consolidated shipments to the Outgoing Bureau. He can comment further on the mechanics.

I know the ARRL promotes LoTW as the "answer", but there are a lot of people who have not enrolled for one reason or another. ALSO, I find that even if a DX station confirms by LoTW, a goodly percentage still send a paper card through the incoming bureau system!

Personally I have 34 drawers of DX QSLs here, in alpha or numerical order!

I'll say no more!

Glenn,

Thanks for the informative link.
IMHO, the fee that the League has placed on Outgoing Bureau
usage has priced it out of common usage. In the past, I'd take a
few dozen cards a couple times a year and send them out via
the Bureau. With the high additional fee, I plan to only use the

Bureau once per year at most, if at all.
Additionally, I think the League is trying to encourage folks to
only use LoTW and eventually end physical QSLs altogether

which would end one of the more enjoyable aspects of our hobby.

Hello,

It appears, after Tedd's questions at the meeting, that the following

document should be read:
