Bird strikes can be a problem but are apparently height-dependent.
When the one in ... Altamont Pass? ... in the Bay Area opened early on
(70s?  80s?) it was a big issue, but subsequent utility-scale turbines
are much taller and the bird strike issue has been lessened.

Of course, birds don't care to breathe the exhaust from coal plants,
either, which also shortens their lives ... they just don't all die at
the bottom of the smoke stack.  :-)

Another issue with wind farms is potential weather  radar
interference.  Not a big problem, since the location of the farms are
known ... until the storm passes over the farm itself.  :-)
