[RFI] RFI On Talking Thermometer

Hi
     I am blind and so I use a talking in door out door thermometer. The trouble I have is that not only does the RF from my own radios affect the meter but apparently there is stray RF in the area that activates the meter randomly. The best I can determine the RF comes in to the meter through the wire for the out door temperature probe. Once in the meter it trips the circuit that activates the talking part of the meter. It also gives a false reading from the probe. So, with the random RF, in the middle of a sound winters sleep one is jarred awake by a voice saying that it is 113F outside. I tried a toroid choke with little success. What do I try next?
