I completely agree, and have been using a home network that's 99% 
wireless for six years. The only wired connections are from the wireless 
router to the cable modem, and from the router to two PCs on desks 
adjacent to the router. All cables are short, and all are choked. 
Network performance is just fine -- it supports my ham shack, my office, 
my wife's office, streaming audio (often two programs) and streaming 
Netflix.
