describes direct replacement with no fixture modification and 
replacement with fixture modification, including bypassing the ballast.  
The least expensive replacement tubes require rewiring the fixture to 
remove the ballast.

LED tubes equivalent to 40W T-8 or T-12 fluorescent tubes can be 
purchased for under $15 each.
