Hello,

I agree with the advice here to purchase your own Cable (or DSL) Modem.  
Saves a bit each month, and may be faster than the provided rental modem.

Among your many options post-modem, that I’ve not heard mentioned here:

	Unifi Ubiquiti

More than capable of running your entire home (or a hotel, or a university).
Consolidated controller view lets you see / configure / partition your network to your tastes.
