I purchased my own modem.  it’s the latest and greatest Netgear.  Comcast charges $5 rental fee if you use their physically large modem/router combo.  I declined and purchased my own.

	Unifi Ubiquiti

More than capable of running your entire home (or a hotel, or a university).
Consolidated controller view lets you see / configure / partition your network to your tastes.
