Retired EE NA6O, with serious RFI chops and good lab has looked into
some Edison-base LED bulbs, but I've not seen data on any tube
replacements. His website is well worth a look. We know each other from
the NorCal contest club.
My home is 100% LED, mostly are reasonably quiet, but a few specialty
types in "architectural fixtures" in a home we bought from a flipper 20
years ago are mondo noisy, and are the only alternative. One fixture
wipes out local FM broadcast. I'm all LED both to save money and make
backup power easier. I'm lighting two buildings with about 100W when
half of the lights are on.
I'm much too old for the cost of the bulbs to pay off, but I love that
it greatly reduces the required scale of my power backup system, which
is a 600Ah 48V LiFe Battery bank, a 6kVA inverter, and a gen that runs
on propane that is loafing keeping up with household stuff and an
support balls to the wall contesting.
