My neighbor W3EKT and I compared our six meter CQWW VHF
contest logs.Our QTHs are only one mile apart.

I had 70 six meter QSOs in 35 grids using only the FT8 mode
during one hour of operation Saturday evening and three hours
mostly Sunday afternoon.

W3EKT had 73 six meter SSB and CW QSOs in 38 grids during
about seven hours of operation about equally split between
Saturday and Sunday.

We operated only about two hours in common.

My 6M Yagi is 150 feet high, W3EKT's is 50 feet high. We're both
at the same elevation above sea level, have nearly identical horizons
and were running similar power.

Some -- but by no means all -- of the differences below were caused
by operating during different times, but the differences are
startling.It looks like we were in two different contests!

W3EKT and W3LPL worked only ten QSOs in common!
Most were serious contesters like K8GP, K1RZ, K1TEO and N2NT

I worked ten EM grids that W3EKT missed.
W3EKT worked six EM grids that I missed.
We worked only two EM grids in common.

I worked eight EN grids that W3EKT missed.
W3EKT worked only one EN grid that I missed.
We worked no EN grids in common!

I worked no FM grids that W3EKT missed.
W3EKT worked four FM grids that I missed.

I worked four FN grids that W3EKT missed.
W3EKT worked eight FN grids that I missed.
We worked only three FN grids in common.

I was not on the air when 6 meters was open to the
CM, DM and DN grids except DM79 that I worked.

It appears to me that FT8 is revitalizing VHF contesting,
a much needed improvement!

It will be very interesting to have reports from contesters
who operated both FT8 and the traditional CW and SSB modes.
