Absolutely, and any audiologist or hearing physiologist can tell you so.
I discovered later in life that at least part of my hearing problem is
inability to listen fast. I'm always telling people (especially those who
are saying things that are rote to them, like Customer Service Rep's), "I'm
sorry, but you're talking faster than I can listen."
I came to realize that I record the sound internally, then play it back
internally until I can parse the message. It slows down voice
communication a lot, but helps me work CW. My audiologist connected me
with a professor at Gallaudet University (here in DC) who could improve my
voice processing techniques, but life got too busy to see if it worked.
Interestingly, I use the record/playback method on CW, too, but it doesn't
slow me down there. I'm comfortable enough with Morse that it's really
like a second language, and I can do things like log behind and make log
corrections while F1 or F2 are sending. Indeed, in my SS Phone report at
https://www.3830scores.com/showrumor.php?arg=1eaezwfyiivf0, toward the end
where I'm telling about a chat with N4OGW -- that chat happened on phone,
but when I was typing the story for 3830scores, I was remembering it in CW.
