For me, a scope is the best.  My trusty old KAM was retired years ago to
do nothing more than drive my little 3" Tektronix scope sitting on top
of the rig.  It's as close to instantaneous as you can get and late in a
contest when the ears are getting worn out, it never fails.  

Anyone who's never tried a scope should.  I don't think you'll ever go
back to anything else.
