[RTTY] WF1B to Cabrillo

One thing that has bugged me about WriteLog since I first stared using it 4 years ago is the highlighting color scheme. Red for a dupe as in Stop always made sense to be. However, in my head green is Go as in this is a new one go for it and "yellow" is Caution as in go ahead if there is nothing better. Though I've never looked, I'd guess there is a way in the ini file to change this color scheme.

Mike et al,

WriteLog has the same feature where the call highlights. It's been several
years since I used WF1B so I don't remember how that one works.

In WriteLog, a callsign with automatically highlight when followed by a
"DE". A callsign will also highlight without the DE if the station was logged
in the same log or if the callsign is in a master database. A mentioned previously,
this master RTTY file is updated regularly by me and can be downloaded off
my WriteLog website at www.geocities.com/writelog/. The file has an extension
of .dta and can be used as is only by WriteLog. However, the file can be
converted to a file that can be used by WF1B by using WT4I Master Call
Maintenance program. Presently the file has over 20,000 callsigns in it.

In WriteLog, a callsign will highlight red if a dupe, green if a new station
and yellow if a new station and a new multiplier. A nice feature of WriteLog
when using the Insert key is that WriteLog will look at which color the
highlighted calls are on the screen and choose a new multiplier colored
yellow over a new station colored green if there is both a green highlighted
and yellow highlighted call showing.

If more than one yellow call is showing (or green), Writelog chooses the
last call showing. WriteLog never picks up a red call using Insert.

The problem with WF1B now is that it is no longer supported. Unless
someone is working on upgrades, I've not heard of any upgrades. The
program is already out-dated. The WAE RTTY contest rules have changed
to add more multipliers. WF1B will no longer score this contest correctly.

On the other hand, WriteLog is constantly upgraded and beta tested. There
is a WriteLog reflector which is of great assistance. There is the main
WriteLog web site at www.writelog.com plug support sites by K9JY at
www.k9jy.com and myself (URL above).

There are other RTTY contest programs available. One is RCKRTTY
and I believe some are using N1MM (which is free) but only supports 5
or 6 contests. You should be able to find links to most of the RTTY
contest programs at www.rttyinfo.net/.

Good luck with whatever you choose to use.

73, Don AA5AU
