Hi all,

Just a few observations about this contest.........

Generally, I would say that conditions were very good, but there were some
very poor patches at times, especially on 15m. I also found it difficult to
get a run going anywhere. Despite that, I still logged all six continents in
the first two hours!

It also seemed quite a 'polite' contest, although I did have two callers who
sent me a full report before being acknowledged, which only causes confusion
all round. I also had one caller who I couldn't decode at all! All I had was
garbage, despite me tuning up/down, reversing the shift, etc. If that was
you, I apologise! There were a few nasty signals around too. Some simply
overdriving the soundcard, and a few drifting after keying up.

Interesting to note that the majority of folk weren't using the dashes in
between the serial numbers this time. Did anyone else notice this?

I was also quite saddened by the tone of some announcements on the cluster
concerning VP6DI and XR0X. Just how sad is it when all those Europeans start
whining about the fact that one or other weren't calling Europe? There was
also some very bad attitudes about how they worked from both sides of the
pond, and maybe the Sysops should BAN those who use bad language on the
cluster, or log in with fictitious calls!

It was especially bad form to complain about spots for XR0X on RTTY. I
suspect that some CW idiots decided that if they couldn't work them on CW,
then they'd screw up the RTTY. Very sad.

I'll post my score to the reflector when I get home later on.
