Got through another one! Propagation started off very poor at this QTH.
Signals were weak and watery. Fortunately they cleared up as the contest
progressed.
Forty and 80 meters were very noisy both nights. In fact I don't have a
single "Q" on 80!! The second night asked George, W1ZT, to move to 80. He
indicated that I had no modulation. Anyway I cant find out what the problem
is, and will keep looking. Cost my about 2 hours of operating time, which
is about 80 Q's during the evening. For the entire test ran an average of
30 Q's per hour which is lower than usual for this location.
A lot of stations are calling off frequency. The use of sound card
programs, RITTY, MTTY, and MixW, has produced bad habits. Operators are
using the AFC to read my signal, but are transmitting way off my listening
frequency. I try to listen on the frequency that I transmit on. The
demodulators at NO2T are: HAL P-38 for 80, 20, 10 meters, and HAL PCI-3000
for 40 and 15 meters. These units do not have AFC. So must use the RIT to
acquire the off freq signals. No complaints from this end. However if
anyone wonders why NO2T doesn't come back to them right away, check ur XMIT
freq!
What I just described is not a complaint. Just trying to be an Elmer.
Since January logged almost 4000 RTTY Q's. No wonder my Keyboards keep
wearing out! Hi Hi. NO2T enjoys RTTY contesting as well as PSK31 and
MSK16. It is hard work and at the age of 72 getting up on Monday is very
painful. Please keep calling me and giving me ur QSO's 73 Best DX SK from:
