That's pretty funny, my DRAKE L-7 has been running 1000 on RTTY Contests
for about 15 years or so.  The only weakness is the power supply which
needs to either be modified (change bleeders) or put some air on it.  The
pair of 3-500's works great.

Found out about the Drake's while running HD8CQ in the first CQWW RTTY
contest in 1987 and picked one up shortly after my return.

I would recommend the AL-1200 for RTTY contesting, but there are even a
couple of models of that Amp that could be improved.

Amps are a lot like rig's a lot of people have had a lot of experiences.
Some good and some bad.
