[RTTY] Dovetron Help

If this is the aprx 4 inch high x 19 inch wide unit with red LED " + scope" 
display in the middle, I am familiar with it. I had a couple of them and 
used them as TUs in conjunction with WriteLog software. I used them as 
"Dumb Terminals", which means they simply demodulate the tones and output 
the standard 5-bit RTTY codes.

Their main feature was that the mark and space tones could be independently 
set, and were infinitely variable within the given ranges. Problem is that 
in ham band RTTY you don't need that because we use fixed tones, fixed 
shift, etc.

In most ham stations with modern computers, the sound card solution, such 
as MMTTY, works very well. A piece of hardware like the MPC-1000R is 
pretty, but doesn't work any better.

Unless you particularly want a dumb hardware TU to play with or want to 
actually drive an old mechanical printer with it, it has few advantages.
