RTTY is LSB on all bands. Someone else can probably tell you why: I just know
that it always has been.
I don't really understand all the buttons myself... I pretty much just leave it set to
HAM, SQ on and the slider on the level meter set high enough to eliminate garbage
characters between transmissions, and BPF pressed.
AFC is Automatic Frequency Control, which allows MMTTY to "slide" up or down to
exactly tune in a station once you are close, but will cause your TX frequency to
then be off. Sounds like you probably had AFC on. NET automatically matches
your TX frequency to that of the signal you are receiving, but can result in you and
the other station gradually migrating up or down the band if he has his AFC on. I
never use either one, preferring to tune by hand using the "twin bananas" scope or
the peaks on the tuning display (although I can now do it pretty much by ear).
