Howdy people

Boy, I don't know if it was me or what the heck was going on, but Friday 
nite sucked here.  I got home from dinner with the XYL, thought I'd get on a 
make a bunch of contacts.  Got on but seems like the band was really in 
sorry shape (at least from Oregon). I could hear guys, but QSB was bad and 
signals sounded really puny.

I called guys and called guys and all I got was ???  or QRZ???.  Thought 
something was wrong with my radio but all seemed OK.  Finally worked a few 
but it was hard work.  SV8CS was calling CQ on 20 and I called him 7 or 8 
times and only one time got a ? from him.  I was thinking maybe everyone 
east of me had their beams pointing towards Europe.  Now I know how the VK,s 
and ZL's feel :-)

Went out and checked the beam--yep, pointing to Eu.  Listened to the radio 
on the other radio and it sounded OK.  Putting out 100 watts like it should. 
SWR was normal, but sure couldn't work anyone.  From 0230 till 0530 I made 
14 Q's on 40 and 20.  Finally gave it up as a lost cause.  I've never 
experienced anything like that before.  Hope it is better tomorrow.  73
