Hello,
Kinda off topic: Got a computer problem. While closing RITTY (a DOS
program) one of the screens came up with the info that "The program has
performed an illegal operation and will be shut down......" When "Close"
was clicked another screen with the same info. reappears, etc. The
computer has been restarted several times, but no joy. The CNTRL, ALT,
DELETE sequence was done to get the window that show what is running.
Unfortunately, most of the time this window doesn't open. When it does,
nothing unusual is open - like RITTY. Also, the CNTRL, ALT, DELETE
sequence of keys do not cause a computer restart.
The details about what is causing the problem is: "EXPLORER caused a
segment not present fault
in module KRNL386.EXE at 0001:00009e90.

I have no idea what this is telling me.
Running 98SE OS and have installed all the updates. Computer is 800 MHz
Pentium III with 650K RAM and 80 Gbyte HD.
Another registered copy of RITTY runs okay.
Did a hard drive scan and nothing was found.
Could the problem be in the first RITTY file (I have two registered
copies)? For several years this file would close when scrolling down it.
The same screen would come up saying an illegal operation had been
performed. When "Close" was clicked, the computer continued as it should
without the annoying window reappearing letting you know it just performed
an illegal operation. Haven't looked at the file for some time. RITTY
normally is selected as part of WL or else from an icon.
Tried to delete the file with the possible problem RITTY application but
failed. Got the following message: "Cannot delete RITTY: Access denied.
Make sure disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not
current in use." Also tried to delete the shortcut icon and got this
message: "Cannot Delete File: File system error (1026)". Then tried to cut
and put in to the Recycle Bin and got the same message "....File system
error (1026)". Tired to use the uninstall but RITTY isn't listed.
Everything else seems to work okay - even the pop-ups on Firefox.
Did a virus scan and nothing showed up. 4.51 is the version of RITTY.
