[RTTY] Help me decide between two rigs

I'd probably choose the Pro 3, even tho I've never even used one. The MP's
are getting a bit long in the tooth and require a lot of additional filters
and mods to make them perform well. I believe Yaesu is getting ready to
release a replacement for the MP. Not matter what, they'll both blow away a
TS2000! Hi!

Subject: [RTTY] Help me decide between two rigs

Hi All,
I've been digging through the RTTY list archives but ultimately I'd
like to solicit some opinions.

I'm very close to buying a Yaesu FT-1000MP Mark V. A new one. I've
done a lot of reading about it. I know about the keyclick and NB mods.
I know I'll ultimately want to pick up some more filters. The 200W
(75W class A) PA with 30V finals is appealing to me, and the specs are
impressive. I figure I'm looking at around $2150 for a new one.

I had just about made up my mind to order one when I got an
opportunity to buy a used Icom 756Pro3 for $2000. It's a year old, in
immaculate condition, and I know the owner. So now I've been
researching the Pro3 some more.

I work mostly RTTY and CW. If you have direct experience with both of
these rigs and would like to tell me which one you chose and why, I'd
appreciate an email. I've found LOTS of folks who will swear by either
radio, but very few who have actually used both.

I'm replacing a Kenwood TS-2000. Your input is appreciated.

Doug, K4DSP
