Speaking of wasting time, you don't really need the "DE". Because each
Baudot character, including spaces, takes 167 ms, you are wasting
almost exactly 1/2 second each time. If you make 1000 QSOs, you have
wasted more than eight minutes. 

It's even worse in a contest where you might call CQ 5000 times...
I'll let you do the math.
