[RTTY] Fwd: [digitalradio] RTTY Hall of Shame

Hi to all,
As has been note elsewhere, after every RTTY contest there
is this type of complaint. Usually it's about us RTTY P***** messing up 40
meters, or some such thing. Yes, I guess if your thing is something else
then RTTY, yea, our contests can mess up your weekend, and get you otherwise
excited. I was an exclusive CW op from 1972 until 2000 and you inconsiderate
jerks use to angrier me too to no extent. However, times change and so must
all of us. I have no problem giving 14.100 a wide berth.(looking at my
CQWWRTTY log I didn't, ok I needed every QSO I could get) Listen, all you
had to do is what I did, work some semi rare ( for me) DX. CW is a lot
different than RTTY. 4L1DA is more important to me than some smutch
realizing that 20 meters may be open to wherever. (BTW 4L1DA I need your
QSl, so e-mail me with your address) Yes I am sorry that I may have caused
someone from hearing a beacon on 14.100 MHz, but you don't call on that
frequency. I can tell you the time that certain parts of the world were open
to me on a certain frequency, but they were using RTTY, not CW.

Now don't think that this is some insensitive, callous retort about
the lady who (whom?) complained. This is just the nature of contests in Ham
radio. The key point to remember here is that all of us have a fantastic
hobby that allows us to have personal or impersonal contact with people
around this rock we live on. We can all find fault with the next guy, but ,
hey, unless we are talking life or death, lets live and let live.

73 to all,
Paul W1hy

(please response to this post directly, the filters are on so I won't hear
you else wise.)

Maybe he is the one who was jamming me (or thought he was) on 14.107 when I
was running up there. Someone put a tone right on top of me and was sending

"W7WHY B***S***, you aren't copying any of those stations through me." Fact

is he had a puny signal and everyone I was working was covering him up.
Talk about ego!!! 73
