They are VERY easy to build yourself...  there are many designs available on the Internet, and FAR Circuits ( www.farcircuits.net ) sells a PC board with the 7805, 7417, and MAX232 chips for $US11.00.  I put mine together (for satellite doppler control) for less than $US20.00 total cost.
