On 11-Nov-08, I posted a note that I was very pleased with
how well cocoaModem 2.0 v0.56 and RUMped 2.0 Beta 16
performed in the 2008 WAE RTTY contest.
As Paul Harvey would say ... now for the rest of the story.
DL8WPX, the WAE DX Contest Manager, sent me a note
questioning why my log showed I started the contest a half
hour before the contest start. Needless to say this got my
attention. I did some double checking and found all QSOs
were logged one hour early.
The time changed from Daylight to Standard time the week
before the contest and my iMac local time was correct;
however, I failed to update the preference setting in RUMped
from UTC 5 to 6 so all QSO's were logged one hour early.
I really do not remember changing the RUMped default from
"Auto UTC" to "UTC 5", but you can be assured the "Auto
UTC" box is now checked and saved under RUMped's General
Preferences.
There are no new rules, just old rules revisited. I exported my
log to ADIF format and used the ARRL tqsl to check for weird
or broken calls. The mistake made was I failed to review or
check the times in my log.
The WAE DX Contest Manager understood what happened and
indicated a updated .cbr file was not necessary. It was a PITA
but I manually changed all logged QSOs by one hour then
exported file in ADIF format to send a corrected log to LoTW.
The updated .tq8 file resulted in 87 matches out of 187 QSOs
vs. zero on the first upload with the bad times.
As noted above there are no new rules, just old rules revisited.
I have learned again to check and double check contest logs.
