Well, that probably could happen, but how about the boys who wore earphones 
and copied code all day.  I's sure the guns going off probably ruined an 
eardrum or 2 also :-)

Back years ago, hearing protection wasn't all that important.  I worked for 
a company here and ran a boat that had a noise level of 135 DB.  For the 
first 20 years I worked there, they didn't give a hoot if I wore hearing 
protection or not.  Now I wear hearing aids.
