[RTTY] ZLs but no VKs?

Peter,
 Saw a vk5, vk3 and a vk7 s&p on 40 early am. Normally see them here about
one hour after sunrise.

OK, so not really a RTTY question, because I've not worked a lot of VKs on
'phone either, but why so few VKs?  I seem to be able to work ZLs just fine
(always a thrill for me), so my signal gets squirted -- by a dipole -- in
that general direction OK ...
