[RTTY] SO2R in WPX RTTY

Larry:

I don't know the exact answer to your question. What
frequency, what region of the world was the station, what is
your effective radiated power leaving the antenna. Way too
many variables involved here.
If the station was indeed keeping the frequency warm then that
is not good operating practice or as others have said
gentlemanly but it happens. It even happens with SO1R stations
who have finally gotten a clear frequency say on the wall to
wall mayhem of 20m and need to take a potty break. Hit the F1
key 10 times and go to the loo. I guess it is the old adage
act and then beg forgiveness.

I guess the best thing to do is to try a couple of calls to
see if you can work the station, if it isn't an need
multiplier move on and come back later. That's why its called
radio and not internet I guess.

Henk, how You will explain me the following things. During the
last RTTY WPX
three times I try to call stations cqing with +20 db level and
didn't get
the answer.
For me it is clear that those SO2R stations just keep their
run frq while
made QSO
somewhere else. It is no way to be consider that they could
make qso in 2-3
seconds
pause in CQ. They just hold the freq.! Once it was funny when
we made qso on
this freq
with other station calling this guy with out any protest from
him ;)
I know that You and many others do not use such a practice,
but I met such a
way to
maximize the score so often in every contest. That's why I'm
for the
separate the SO2R
from other groups. Let them compete with each other.
