WAY off topic, but i have to add my two cents.
I moved to linux a few years ago (completely dumped windows from all my
machines, no dual boot, no wine, no emulation of windows inside linux. I'm
100% linux) I write just as much embedded code as i do shell scripts, and
gui. So my argument is that linux is much more stable than windows. Believe
it, or don't believe, doesn't matter to me one way or the other.

Anyway, virus, malware, slow computers, broken updates, forced
obsoleteness, etc, etc, etc. It's all part of the windows experience. Here
at work, they use windows XP, so that means /I/ use windows XP while at
work. It's a headache, i hate it. I really hate it. Infact i made a request
for a linux box and stated i would be responsible for it. back to crappy
windows, I don't run IE, and IT keeps the computer as up-to date as
possible without breaking the analytical software which controls the lab
equipment. With no browser open (that doesn't mean squat with XP, because
IE's frame work is embedded through out the OS) i came back to my office
to find IE open and a fake virus scan asking for a CC number. Mind you no
applications open. Simply the OS (with whatever IE controls hooked and
running that there may be) This is just how it is with windows. So i fill
a ticket out for IT, and wouldn't you know it, several other people have
already filled out one. Apparently everyone else had the same story, come
back to the computer and it has a virus up. Never heard where it came from
, or why. I don't care. That day there were water fountain stories that
some of the machines were infected and they had not even logged in yet!
Fact is this is how it works when you use windows unless you want to spend
a lot of time fighting the machine. Me, I quite supporting junk a few years
ago, and i invite you to do the same.

I agree 100%, you don't have to click anything. Windows is good enough at
breaking itself without the help of a user.

Once again, my two cents.

Steve
