[RTTY] I have a question

Fabi,
I think it depends on the rules of the particular contest. If you have
logged the other call and exchange correctly most log checkers will credit
you with a good contact even if the other guy busts your call or exchange on
his end. You did your part correctly so shouldn't be penalized for an error
at his end.
There are some contests however that will penalize both stations if either
one has incorrect information from the QSO. The theory here is you must not
only make sure you have received your information correctly, but that the
other station has received yours correctly too. Where this falls apart is
if the other guy correctly identifies your call over the air and then
mistypes the info in his log. In RTTY contests you can acutally see what he
has copied as your call and will enter into his log. But in CW or SSB
contests there is no way you can verify what he actually enters in the log,
only what you copied over the air. I believe this concept is taken to the
extreme in the Russian DX Contest . If an error is made at either end not
only do both parties not get credit, but points are actually taken away from
the offending station! Ouch!
