Lots of good answers by some of the best in the business.

Here are some resources that will help you maximize your fun:

CW Sprinting--Beginners Guide http://www.contesting.com/articles/198

N6TR Sprint Survival Page http://n6tr.jzap.com/sprint.html

Sprint Wiki http://wiki.contesting.com/index.php/Operating_the_sprints

N6TV Sprint Webinar http://www.nccc.cc/webinars.html

W6SX Sprints--How to Have Fun http://pvrc.org/webinar/webinars.htm
Scroll to bottom.

A few minutes reading will greatly increase your understanding of the
sprint "Flow."

Most of the above address CW and SSB, but RTTY is not different.
Indeed, one of things to avoid is getting sucked in by your RTTY
software capability and sending too much. The second rule of
contesting is to send the minimum required to efficiently make
contacts.

The First Rule of Contesting is to have FUN.

Contest Exuberantly,
