[RTTY] Contest

I am interested in rtty contests but I tried one a while back and didn't know how to set up my macros. Up here in Ketchikan I can usually only read one side of the QSO's so it's difficult to know what to send. I would just like to get my macros set up properly so I send the right exchanges next time. 
Also, is there anyone else using a K3/DXP38 combo. I could use a little help with software selection.
