Jim, you will find the 1000D to be an excellent rtty transceiver..  When using this radio make sure you use the internal keyer.  That way, all internal filters will line up with the center of the signal.   The radio uses an internal afsk generator but for all practical purposes it appears in operation as fsk.  It can be keyed via a positive pin available through an accessory jack.
