You do it how you want to do it and others can do it how they want to do 
it. The only difference is a small amount of time in any case and the 
ability of a user to use software that is created for doing this stuff.

It matters very little is the shift is right or wrong.  You merely click 
on the data or Shift-Click in writelog.
Much ado about so little.

My guess is that all "real" contest guys will be able to deal with
