"While I agree that this is valuable information, most everyone "in" the
contest community is already aware of it? How to disseminate it to those NOT
"in" the contest community, is my question?

C'Ya, Shelby - K4WW"

First of all, Hank...OUTSTANDING work. You have proven once again that you
are much smarter than I look.

Second...Shelby, after working a few guys at VP9I a couple of weeks ago,
many
on four or five bands and many I've been working for years...some of the
"in" crowd
still just don't get it. Coming from the Monkey See Monkey Do School of
Contesting,
I know my first set of macros probably made some people's hair hurt.

But I've gotten a little better, learning by example from guys like Ed, Don
and Hank,
and as much as I hate to admit it, my partner in crime WW3S.

All we can do is lead by example...on the air, the reflectors and in venues
like CTU.
While we shouldn't or can't stop a run or Sprint couplet to explain to a
guy how badly his macros suck...
maybe if each of us jotted down one call and e-mailed the guy or gal
post-contest with a couple of suggestions
and references to improve their game...it couldn't help but improve the
sport.

I know I was struggling (well, struggling more than I am now) with Sprints,
until some
well meaning soul pointed me to the Sprint Survival Guide.

And if the suggest-ee takes exception to your e-mail and suggests that you
perform
some unnatural act upon your person...just smile and move on.

You tried.

73, Ray - ND8L
