One very low-cost way to get your feet wet is to buy a Softrock receiver
($21 kit) crystalled for your Transceiver's IF output (assuming you have
one) and run it with RTTY Skimmer. Alternatively, you can connect to a
DX cluster that carrie Skimmer spots and use a combination of filters to
get spots only from Skimmers that are likely to have the same
propagation as you do.

For spots, please use your favorite
"retail" DX cluster.

Yet I found no spots for my call sign when I checked the traditional clusters during slow periods. I don't normally run assisted except during the CW & SSB SS or unless I know that a needed DX will be an entry in a contest. My approach to contesting is usually pretty laid back and I like twirling the big knob or dozing off while calling CQ ;^). I wonder if I'm missing something?
