[RTTY] CQ WW WPX RTTY - Propagation

Seba,

It is likely that 10m WILL be open but the propagation will be very much “spot light” where certain areas will be very strong and the area covered by the opening will be narrow/small.

10m is still open – the problem is that there aren’t folks on the band!

For those wanting detailed propagation predictions, please feel free to try the Propagation as Service web site I run at K6TU.NET – many world class contesters regularly run predictions before major contests (and I see several well-known RTTY Contesters doing that right now as we lead up to this weekend’s WPX RTTY).

For those minded to give this a try, look at the Contest Strategy prediction which plots multiple bands per page for each hour of the day/night. This shows both the evolution of propagation during the day but also which bands provide propagation to different areas of the world all on one sheet/page of a PDF.

Take the time to build out your own Station Configuration which describes your own antenna/power levels by band and then select something like “Tribander & Wires” as the receive station configuration.

This will give you a very good idea of what you will work.

For those wanting best fidelity in the predictions, use an SSNe value of 15 – this is likely what we will see this weekend. You can learn more about SSNe values from the NorthWest Research Associates web site at https://spawx.nwra.com/spawx/ssne24.html.

If you need help building your own customized predictions or have question, pleas drop me an email.

Hi there! The contest is coming and we are working hard to put the station in order. We are still struggling with a few topics about the antennas.

My concern is PRopagation! Ten meters will probably behave as it has lately. That's no good for the ones who live in the south and run a
Little Pistol. So, is there any propagation forecast that can enlight our mark and space during the next WPX?

Thank You very much and hope we can contact You all. We will be LW3DC MS LOW.
