So how am I supposed to know this when I call you?

If there is only one caller and I'm
confident the frequency is clear, then I'd just as soon the QSO be snappy
without the unnecessary instances of my call.

On the CQ, I also prefer the response not begin with my call, but there are
a number of situations where I'm really glad the other station started with
my call. Again, for the same reason. I may suspect I've got another CQing
station on my frequency and this assures me that I'm not wasting my time
trying to work someone else's pileup. I'd rather know sooner than later.
So, it's a mixed bag but I'm OK with hearing my call even on the CQ response
when the frequency is crowded. If there is only one caller and I'm
confident the frequency is clear, then I'd just as soon the QSO be snappy
without the unnecessary instances of my call.

I also like to see my call once, but not in reply to my CQ.
Here's how I prefer it:
ME: CQ WPX W6WRT W6WRT K
HIM: W1AAA W1AAA
ME: W1AAA 599 03 03 W1AAA
HIM: W6WRT 599 05 05 W1AAA
ME: W1AAA TI W6WRT CQ
I's clear who's calling who and we each see each other's call three
times, which should be enough. In addition, I see him send my call
once, which also should be enough. If my call is garbled I send my
call three times before continuing the exchange. When that happens I
send ONLY my call three times, nothing else. Works for me.
73, Bill W6WRT
