Hi Alan,

Often the symptoms you are having are related to the TNC.  Transmit or
receive frequency could be off.  Also, some of the pots that set output
level are very touchy, and can change a lot over time.  The PK88 is a
classic with this problem.  I remember frequently needing to readjust
mine back in the days I was using RF packet.

It might be a good idea to monitor your transmitted output in another 2m
receiver to see if it sounds like you have plenty of audio output, and
not just carrier or carrier with low audio level.  Of course a deviation
meter is best if you can get your hands on one.
