I just got off the phone with Peter Detwiler, the consultant to the
California Senate Local Government Committee. He said that the committee
hearing on AB 1228 will be held next Wednesday, May 21, at 9:30 AM. He
also said that at this time there only 4 bills scheduled to be heard
next Wednesday in his committee and that he expected that the committee
session should end about 11:00 or 11:30 AM for all of the bills being
considered that morning. He stated that he has been on the phone with
Chris Imlay about the bill.

He would like to write his report to the committee around noon on this
Thursday (May 15) and he will be calling Assemblyman Dutton's office on
Thursday morning for letters in support to include in his report. This
means that to make sure your letter in support gets into the report that
you should FAX your letter to Assemblyman Bob Dutton with a CC FAXed to
Peter Detwiler at the Senate Local Government Committee. Assemblyman
Dutton's FAX number is (916) 319-2163 and the Senate Local Government
Committee FAX number is (916) 322-0298.

The letters should be addressed to:

    Sacramento, CA 94249-2063

All letters received after tommorrow (Wednesday 5/14) will not be in the
written report, but will be reported orally at the Committee Hearing
next Wednesday.
