CQWW trivia:   Years ago, an article in the West Coast DX Bulletin 
stated that during CQWW 'SKIP HAPPENS'. Just the RF energy emitted by 
thousands of DX'ers ionizes the upper atmosphere producing SKIP.  This 
theory was proven when one station (the call shall remain nameless) 
north of Escondido lit up the eLayer by blasting it with over 25KW on 20 
meters for 5 minutes. Stations around the world communicated at sunspot 
low for hours after this transmission...The West Coast DX Bulletin was 
going to sell bumper stickers and teeshirts with the logo 'SKIP 
HAPPENS', but the printer misinterpreted the K in SKIP as an H. The rest 
is history. So now when you see a bumper sticker or tee shirt with 'SHIT 
HAPPENS', (pardon my French) you know how it started.....
