I did some research years ago and settled on DX4WIN. This is well developed
and supported and is very popular with many OM's.
Give it a look.
With logging software, it's not about purchase price, it's about
functionality and ease of use. Take your time to avoid getting started with
and investing your time in something you regret later.

Subject: [SCCC] Logging Software
Good afternoon,
I'm curious what general logging software SCCCers are using (general, not
contest logging) and what they like about it. I've always used a good old
ARRL paper log but am thinking about going to software. Am testing N3FJP
this afternoon for example.
Thanks,
Dennis NE6I
