Back in the mid 1980's, I had the opportunity to rub elbows with Phil at a
couple of SCCC multi-op gigs. Phil was a great guy and a lot of fun to hang
out with at these things. He was always very helpful, even to us guys who
were new to MM'ing and MS'ing.
BTW, I found this shot of Phil at the SCCC's XE2SI operation in 1983 (see
bottom of picture). Thanks to N6NB and his web pages for this shot.

I hope that you had a chance to meet Phil at some point along the way.
Better yet that you had a chance to go with him on one of those trips where
he operated from each of the 40 zones. I did, and and he always made it a
better experience for his being there. Always energetic. Always upbeat. The
man knew how to have a good time
We may find someone else to give us that rare NM multiplier, but Phil was
one of a kind.
