[SCCC] TS-480SAT

IMD dynamic range at 2 Khz spacing is the key parameter for
a contest rig. Serious contesting requires about 77 dB. The
TS-480 came out in about 2004, before 2 KHz testing became
the norm, but its dynamic range at 5 KHz (ARRL) is
about 71 dB with the preamp on (20, 15 and 10 meters) and 75
dB with the preamp off (40, 80 and 160). Dynamic range at 2
KHz spacing will be considerably less, but hasn't been
tested, as far as I can see. It all depends on how serious
you are. If you don't mind getting blown off your run
frequency by a loud adjacent signal every now and then, you
can get by with less than 77 dB dynamic range, especially if
you ride the RF gain control.

You might want to consider a used TS-850. I can vouch for
that rig.
